It Relieves Effectively The Pain, Pruritus, Burning And Congestion That Often Accompany Ear Infections.
Clean The Aural Canal Thoroughly With Alcohol And Sponge Dry. Instill 3 To 5 Drops Of The Solution Directly Into The Aural Canal Every Three Hours. When A Favorable Response Is Obtained, Reduce The Dosage Gradually, And Eventually Discontinue If Preferred, The Aural Canal May Be Packed With A Gauze Wick Saturated With The Solution And Kept Moist (With Tyotocin) For 12 To 24 Hours, At Which Time The Wick Is Removed From The Ear. Treatment May Be Repeated As Often As Necessary At The Discretion Of The Physician After Each Use, Wipe The Dropper Dry Before Returning It To The Bottle And Replace Cap Firmly. Do Not Clean The Dropper With Water, Since Repeated Introduction Of Excessive Moisture May Precipitate Out The Tyrothricin

This Preparation Is Not A Substitute For Appropriate Systemic Antibiotic Therapy. Failure To Continue Treatment Of Mycotic Infections For Some Time After The Aural Canal Is Entirely Free Of Exudate And Debris May Result In The Development Of Subepithelial Spores, Followed By A Recurrence Of Them Infection The Use Of Antibiotic Agents May Result In The Overgrowth Of Nonsusceptible Organisms. Continued Observation Of The Patient Is Essential. If New Infections Due To Bacteria Or Fungi Appear During Therapy, Appropriate Countermeasures Should Be Instituted If Any Reaction Is Observed Indicating Sensitivity To One Or More Of The Components Of Tyotocin, Discontinue Its Use Solutions Of Ferric And Copper Salts And Nitrites Should Not Be Used With Tyotocin As They Cause It To Become Colored. Tyotocin Should Be Used Undiluted, Since Water Will Cause The Precipitation Of Tyrothricin And A Loss Of The Solution'S Hygroscopic Effect. However, The Addition Of Heavy Metal Salts, Such As Mercuric Chloride Or Bismuth Subnitrate, Does Not Cause Precipitation
